One Crazy Summer - The Atlanta Band Genome has been updated!

Click on the picture to check it out.
Thanks to Chris Ware, Will Green and Ken Two Four (that's right - I have been receiving data from these dudes), I have been able to expand the Blame Game, Tornado Town, and Broken lines, respectively. The genome is getting pretty crazy, and I have been trying to make the appropriate linkages, but unfortunately there are only two dimensions to work with here. I need some kind of wormhole to link bands such as Portrait with The Power and The Glory, as you have to travel right through the Gold Sparkle Band area to connect them. Anyhow, I did my best, so please let me know what you think, and if you have some more bands and linkages that need to be made. One great accomplishment is that through Blame Game (which has more linkages than any other band on this list) I have finally been able to add Dirt to the Genome. My next post is planned to be a Dirt discography, so stay tuned.
Enjoy the BBQ.

  1. Jesus. My nose is bleeding. How do you have the time for this shit?

You might wanna draw a line from Seersucker to Harvey Milk as Stephen Tanner was in both. Stephen also does "Bassoon" and Kyle went on to play with J Mascis and PW Long.

When all is said and done, make a t-shirt of this.

  2. cade plays in jackson county line, you might want to branch them off of five by nine... oh and it's 'venosity'. other than that, i think you may be onto something with this genome thing.

  5. I'm in a new band called Gold Standard with Chris and George from Blame Game. Also, Andrew from Blame Game / Hawks was in a band called Brickmason for a while with a girl named Helen, who is now in her own band called Chrissakes. I guess Chrissakes is technically an Athens band.

  6. Minor typo suggestions:

Ben Davis was in "Wislov", and my band with D. Daniell and B. Fielden is spelled "San Agustin". In addition, Stewart Voegtlin always told people that William Carlos Williams was really "Stewart Voegtlin's "The William Carlos Williams"", but don't believe him.

This is a hell of a flow chart.

  7. This was the product of many hours spent over the past year in Microsoft Visio. It is a work in progress, so I'll tweak it little by little as we go along. I need to spread it out more, as it is way too dense at the moment, and give some room to make the connection I need. Hopefully I can also put together little clusters of bands, as is in there informally already.

  10. no one from Freemasonry was in John Brown. that was evil bruce, mike haggerty (from fiddlehead), rick moore and scott robbins (from barrel) and sorta went on to become copa vance with the addition of lee corum on drums and alan chastain (macho donkey wrestler)

  13. I forgot about Monte Casino - I'll have to add them in there. John Brown was the first band I knew that could be classified rightly as a "Supergroup". I will post their single soon. Thanks for the tweaks.

  14. the Orphins, Narcolepsy and I would set myself on fire for you all connect to Thy Mighty Contract not Fag Static.

the Orphins and Narcolepsy connect together.

I have no idea how you keep this straight. I have trouble just remembering the few people I'm friends with.

  17. Just to jump in years after the fact, the drummer from Grand Moff Tarkin was also in Stopper. The guitarist from the Del Rays was in Round Ear Spock. Not that any of that really matters...trivial, I suppose.

Awesome, none the less! Good work!
